This is a rare opportunity to get into a submarine. A must visit attraction with a great tourist guide that knows every little detail about the ship.

USS Becuna was built in 1944 , made 5 war patrols in the Pacific and sank two Japanese tankers. It then was stationed in New London CT for training purposes from 1951 till its decommissioning in 1969. The sub is in beautiful shape, it was modernized extensively after WWII so don't expect this sub to be an untouched WWII era sub but it is definitely worth visiting.

Unlike the neighbouring USS Olympia, the submarine USS Becuna is only available as a guided tour, included in the package, due to the confined nature of a lot of the exhibit. It is well worth the effort. Our guide really knew their stuff and as I was part of a small group, we were able to see parts of the ship not always available. Being guided around a vessle like this, gives you some understanding of what submariners went through. Having been on a number of subs fro m around the world, it's always interesting to see and hear about the similarites within the community of the crew, the games the played and the interactions they had, whilst understanding the differences in the boats. USS Becuna has been very well preseved, most of the equipment is still in situ, USS Becuna is cramped, even for a visit, you can understand why the crews had to become one unit.

Amazing experience! Karl our guide in the submarine was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He was able to answer all my questions and clearly knew a lot about the submarine. Definitely worth going to so that you can learn about it.

Great place to visit! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the submarine and it's history. It's amazing to see the design of the sub and to imagine what it would have been like to have been a sailor living in it. Prices were great for the amount of time you get on the tour and it's definitely a unique experience!

We had the best tour guide of probably any guide anywhere before! He knew everything about this submarine and so excited to teach us. If you're a gear head at all, ask about the steam powered Mark 14 torpedo! Good jokes! Be on your game here and you'll learn a ton! Be ready to climb around and see the good stuff! If you become a member, it let's you into the Olympia, the Seaport Museum, and the Becuna. All three are such a hidden gem right on the Delaware River! Must see if you're in Philly! (And don't forget to see the USS New Jersey while you're here!)
